NKLAW, represented by Chara Zerva, Managing Partner, Ira-Maria Chioni Partner & Head of GDPR & TMT, and Philippos Mitletton Senior Counsel for Data Protection & Privacy, had the honor to sponsor the Regional Rounds of the Helga Pedersen International Moot Court Competition, held by ELSA Greece on March 6-8, 2026, at Athens Court of Appeal.
The Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition is a pan-European moot court organized for the past fourteen years by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA International), in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.
NKLAW experts, served as judges in this year’s case, which focused on the use of a forensic Artificial Intelligence system as evidence in criminal proceedings.
The case explored important legal questions related to Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, particularly concerning the right to a fair trial and the implications of relying on AI-driven evidence in the administration of justice.

The competition offered law students from across Europe a unique opportunity to engage directly with the procedures of the European Court of Human Rights. Through the preparation of written memorials and the delivery of oral pleadings, participants presented their arguments before the experienced judges and the leading academics specializing in human rights.
An initiative that not only strengthens legal advocacy skills, but also promotes a deeper understanding of the protection of human rights across Europe.
Congratulations to ELSA Greece for the excellent organization of the event. We are always grateful for the opportunity to support such meaningful initiatives.
